Sometimes we look at sights in nature but don't really see. While hiking in the woods the other day, it became a realization that we need to open our heart and eyes to see the beauty of the simple things in nature with each season. There is so much order and purpose in His creation. God has given us awesome beauty in this world to see and enjoy... if we would but stop to see and feel it. Join us as this blog is about stopping to see the real beauty around us...to touch and feel it... "Through the Lens".

Easter Sunday

Today started early. It began with a sound that was faintly familiar….the alarm. We haven’t heard that sound in quite awhile. I asked Mike what time it was and he put everything in perspective. He said, “it’s 6:00 and I would have been at work for an hour already.” Wow! I am so thankful we are retired.

We got up early so we could attend the Easter Sunrise Service at Callaway Gardens Resort. This service has, in the past, been held at the beach overlooking Robin Lake, but has recently been moved to the Gardens Restaurant lawn overlooking Mountain Creek Lake. This area is near the Lakeview golf course near the # 10 par three green. It is a beautiful area.

Stephen came down after work on Saturday and spent the night with us so he wouldn’t have to get up even earlier than 6:00 a.m. and drive from LaGrange. Great thinking my son. He also brought our little “grand-dog” with him. It is always fun to be together.

We arrived at Callaway Gardens around 7:10 and quickly made our way to the parking lot. We parked at the Overlook area and walked the stairs through the Azalea Gardens toward the Gardens Restaurant area. This is always a beautiful time of the day. The dew was just lifting on the lake and the birds were beginning to wake up and sing their beautiful spring songs. There were chairs set up as well as bleachers. We found three chairs on the last row and settled in for the service. The service was very nice and well presented but the beauty was provided by nature.

After the service was completed we made our way over to Mountain Creek Inn and the Plantation Room for breakfast. We sat by the fireplace and really enjoyed the ambiance. The food was not up to their standards, but being together made it worthwhile.

We came home and all sat on the patio and Stephen took a nap with his little fellow on his lap. I think we all actually dozed a bit. The day was just perfect…..plenty of sunshine and just enough breeze to lull you to sleep.

A little later we drove over to Callaway Gardens Resort and Mike and I purchased an annual family pass. We are in this area quite a bit since Stephen still lives in LaGrange and we just love Callaway so I contributed my birthday money from Mike’s mom and he paid the difference and we bought our pass. Now we can enjoy the gardens as often as we please. Yea!! And when we are not in the area we will leave the family pass with Stephen and he can enjoy.

Not that any of us were hungry but Stephen wanted us to grill some burgers before he left to go home. So we had burgers and chips for an early dinner before Stephen and Josh left to go back home.

It has been a great day…..a day to reflect on the amazing gift given to each of us through Jesus Christ. A day to reflect on a love so amazing….so divine. I hope you had an amazing day also.
